About This Spot

Stepping into Casa Susanna feels like discovering a hidden jewel tucked just outside the usual Catskills bustle. There’s an immediate sense of calm and intimacy here, where the rhythms of the day slow down—not to a halt, but to a thoughtful, comfortable pace that invites lingering and conversation. The atmosphere blends warmth with a quiet edge, somewhere between modern sensibility and the kind of homegrown charm that makes you want to settle in for the evening or a long weekend brunch.

The space itself carries a subtle energy, the kind you notice in the way conversations unfold and meals arrive seemingly tailored to the moment. It’s not just about food, but about a shared experience—each plate a quietly elegant story of vibrant ingredients and attentive craft. From rich, deeply nuanced sauces that awaken the senses to delicate touches of fresh herbs and unexpected textures, the flavors unfold with a gentle insistence that beckons you back again and again.

Whether you're easing into the day with something light and comforting or savoring the layered complexity of a carefully composed dinner, there’s a sense of genuine care that informs every bite. Drinks here follow that same thoughtful approach, with cocktails that balance brightness and warmth, matching the season or mood without ever overwhelming.

Visiting Casa Susanna feels less like stepping into a restaurant and more like joining a quietly vibrant community hub—where the food is a heartfelt conversation between tradition and contemporary imagination, and where the surroundings encourage you to simply be present with good company and good taste.

The food can only be described as magical. Honestly one of the best Mexican food meals I've ever had. I highly recommend going back over and over again to try all of their offerings as they change through the year. Hard to pick favorites, we had the duck breast black shallot mole the squash blossom and can't stop dreaming about those dishes. I wish I could swim in the black shallot mole.

Casa Susanna is a must when traveling to Hudson or the Catskills. Some of the best modern yet homey Mexican food around. We dined here for both dinner and brunch during our trip from NYC and cannot wait to go back again. Everything we ordered was perfect, especially the masa, beef tartare, mushrooms, duck, and breakfast tacos. The team was so helpful and walked us through the menu, answering any questions along the way. The cocktails and NA drinks were great as well. Special mention to Zen, Sally, and Micah for taking such good care of us. We’ll be back soon!!!

I came here for my birthday a year or so ago and I’m literally going back next week because of how amazing it was. The food was so delicious, fresh, and you can tell everything is homemade. Such a unique restaurant, beautiful atmosphere, and overall just so good. If you’re ever in the area or want to take the trip from nyc, it’s so worth it.

Visited Catskills for my birthday and I HAD to come here. Mainly to support a Latin modern restaurant. You have to make a reservation in advance. The ambiance and aesthetic of it gives me camp pulp fiction vibes. It was pretty late when we got here so we couldn’t see anything outside of the window which added to the vibe. We started off with mocktails, The Spice girl (deep red), which had a hibiscus pomegranate undertone. The real star was the Face Plant (green), which was more of a lime coconut flavor. Not at all overwhelming and very refreshing. They did their thing with that one! My friend and I both ordered the lamb which was good and it came with warm tortillas. The appetizers are creative. I decided to go with the Pistachio tamal for dessert per my servers recommendation and it was . I loved it! It was steamed and not too sweet and melted in my mouth. Go here if you want to be bougie lol

Came here for brunch and was just so absolutely delighted by the quality of the food. We had the quesadilla, salad, and breakfast tacos and everything was amazing. We also really loved their spiced tea drink. Highly recommend. Felt like we got high quality NYC style food.

Came here for an early dinner on a Saturday night. We had a reservation and arrived early. They didn’t let us come in but were told we could wait at one of the tables outside. They didn’t make us feel welcome or even bring us water to drink outside while we were waiting, so the customer service initially seemed lacking . Once we were able to go in, everyone was nice and hospitable. The drinks were strong and delicious. The food was very interesting and flavorful. We had the rib eye, asian pear dish that is perfectly sweet with a dash of spice which I loved, bok choy, pork belly, endive salad, a dish with beans and cheese, and maybe a couple of other things. Pretty pricey but good. The steak had a lot of fat on it but was still enjoyable. All in all, a fun dinner out and I’m glad we came to check it out!

Rustic appeal, excellent service, food is well executed and tasty. Normal portions, very flavourful, and houghtfully prepared. The scallops-fresh were a hit. Lamb barbacoa was moist and tasty. Complements to the chef! Would I come again? Yes. Better than most restaurants in the vicinity.

Had an incredible meal here while spending a long weekend in the Hudson area. The masa were absolutely standouts, and anyone eating here is doing themselves a disservice by not having them. Also shoutout to the service - our waiter was attentive and knowledgeable about the whole menu, giving us some great recommendations and making sure our experience was special. An absolute must for anyone dining in the area.
